Loads of new people on mathstodon lately. Is this all @samjshah's doing, or is something else going on?

I think I approved 15 accounts from overnight, and there doesn't seem to be anything specific being mentioned in the reasons for joining.

Once they've joined it would be useful to have a consistent hashtag. Some that have been used already include:

Physicists use #ITeachPhysics, so #ITeachMath might be an option.

There's a challenge to make it discoverable, descriptive, and memorable.

The additional 's' is always a bit of a stumbling block. #MathEdChat or #MathsEdChat always appeals more to me to identify that it is education based chat not just Maths chat.

For each camp there seem to be significant number who find the other usage "charming", and significant numbers who find it "irritating".
I don't think there's any way to resolve that.

For me, I'd say it's maths-todon, because the "-todon" is the usual suffix.

In particular, the very nature of the fediverse means some toots may never have made it to my instance, in which case I can't see them, and can't include them.
The chart will eventually be deleted, so if you'd like to keep it, make sure you download a copy.
